On Monday, October 4, 2021 at 10:57 A.M. the Waterloo Police Department was notified that personal items were located along the riverbank near San Souci Bridge by family members of missing person Juana Rubio. Rubio went missing on the evening of October 2, 2021.

Shortly after a female’s body was located in the Cedar River. Waterloo Fire Rescue was notified and retrieved the body from the river and was then identified as Juana Rubio. The cause of death is pending an autopsy. No foul play is suspected at this time.

No further information is being released at this time.
