On Sunday, September 07, 2008 at 4:21 p.m., Waterloo Fire Rescue personnel and Waterloo police officers responded to the intersection of Hawkeye Rd and Shaulis Rd on a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident with unknown injuries.   

On arrival, paramedics found one of the drivers, later identified as Frank Brennecke, age 80, of Ackley, Iowa to be unresponsive.  Waterloo Fire Rescue Paramedics transported Brennecke to Covenant Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.   

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Danielle Queck, age 19, of Peru, Iowa was transported to Covenant Hospital and later released. 

The accident remains under investigation.
