A grand jury convened to investigate an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of Eric Rule returned a "no bill" indictment Monday, December 21, 2009.
The grand jury, convened December 14, 2009 by Black Hawk County Attorney Thomas Ferguson, found that the actions of Waterloo Police Department Officer Steve Bose were justified and within the scope of the law.
The September 12, 2009 shooting took place at 611 Keystone Street after several officers responded to a 911 call reporting disorderly conduct at that address. Rule died after being shot during a struggle with Bose.
Officer Bose will remain on administrative re-assignment pending a police department internal review of the police department's use of force policy.
No more information is available at this point.
