On June 16, 2010, Waterloo Police were sent to the East 4th Street Liquor Store, 1027 East Fourth Street on report of a robbery. Upon arrival officers found that the two robbery suspects had been shot by the clerk. Both suspects are now deceased. Two weapons, a .22 caliber rifle and .22 caliber handgun were recovered at the scene.
Robert Maurice Bolden, age 21, of Waterloo died at the scene. Antonio McNeal Sproles, age 21, of Waterloo was taken by ambulance to Allen Memorial Hospital where he pronounced dead.
The clerk, Johnny Lee Sanders, age 65, of Waterloo was not injured. He was taken to the Waterloo Police Department where a statement was taken. The actions of the clerk appear to be justified. His weapon, a .44 caliber handgun, was recovered at the scene.
The police are still at the scene collecting evidence.
