Director of Safety Services Daniel J. Trelka is pleased to announce that Officer Spencer Gann has been selected as the Waterloo Exchange Club's 2010 Officer of the Year. Officer Gann will be honored at the Exchange Club's noon luncheon today.

Officer Spencer Gann, age 23, graduated from Waterloo East High School in 2005 and from Hawkeye Community College in 2007 with an Associate of Arts degree in Police Science. In 2008, Officer Gann was hired by the Waterloo Police Department. Officer Gann is currently assigned to Patrol Watch II. He is a Field Training Officer and a Crime Scene Investigator.

Officer Gann's selection as Officer of the Year reflects highly on his professional ability, exceptional performance and dedication to the Waterloo Police Department.

When off-duty, Officer Gann enjoys spending time with his wife, attending church activities, traveling, working on home improvements projects and participating in Crossfit Training.
