On Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 9:18 PM, Waterloo Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Oliver Street on report of a shooting. Officers found that the house at 310 Oliver Street had been struck by a shotgun round, but no one was injured.
The investigation lead to a white Chrysler 4-door being stopped at Glenwwod and Linden Street. The vehicle was impounded and the occupants taken to the police station. Officers obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and found a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun in the trunk.
Police arrested three people in connection with the shooting. Aundaris Desean Reed, age 15, of 1101 Franklin Street, Waterloo, IA was charged with Intimidation, Gang Participation, Felon in possession of a firearm and Unlawful possession of an offensive weapon. Anntwan Dayshawn Phillips, age 19, of 2822 Independence Avenue, Waterloo, IA was charged with Conspiracy, Gang participation and Possession of an offensive weapon. Fredrick NMN Williams, age 20, of 1113 Mulberry Street, Waterloo, IA was charged with Conspiracy, Gang Participation and Felon in possession of a firearm.
Reed admitted to shooting at the house. Phillips and Williams conspired with Reed to commit the shooting. All three were wearing purple items associated with a the "Midwest Mafia" gang and they admitted to being members of the gang. Reed is currently being held at the North Iowa Juvenile Detention Center and Phillips and Williams are being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
