On Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 12:22 AM, Waterloo Police responded to a motorcycle accident in the 1900 block of Northeast Drive. The motorcycle was northbound on Northeast Drive when the driver lost control and went off the road.

The driver, Kevin Michael Miller, age 23, of Shell Rock, IA and the passenger, Nichole Marie Averhoff, age 19, of Waverly, IA were transported to Allen Hospital. Averhoff later died from her injuries, Miller is being treated for head injuries and broken bones.

Neither one was wearing a helmet. Witnesses stated the driver was driving too fast and lost control of the motorcycle.
