Cedar Valley area fire and emergency services personnel will be sponsoring a day-long seminar by Rick Lasky. Rick Lasky is a 30-year veteran of the fire services. He is currently the fire chief in Lewisville, Texas and has written the book Pride and Ownership: A Firefighter's Love of the Job.

In his presentation, Chief Lasky gives upfront and honest criticism about the need to reignite the love of the job in public service at every level. Chief Lasky encourages employees to learn what they can do to take pride in their job and assume ownership.

Chief Lasky feels like there is nothing else in the world like being a public servant. Every day Chief Lasky remembers why his job is the best in the world and he brings that passion to his seminar.

This seminar is being offered free of charge to all area public servants, whether paid or volunteer, through the generous donations of Cedar Valley area businesses and individuals. Although generally geared toward members of fire and emergency services personnel, any and all municipal employees are welcome to attend.

This free seminar will be held at the Waterloo Center for the Arts at 225 Commercial Street on Tuesday, November 1 from 9 AM- 5 PM. For questions or to RSVP, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
