Waterloo Police Department to Receive Award October 25, 2011 for initiatives taken in the city to reduce Domestic Violence
WHAT: Waterloo Police Chief Dan Trelka will be honored by Waterloo Mayor Buck Clark and Black Hawk County Attorney Tom Ferguson with the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® Champion Award: Law Enforcement Partnership at a news conference. The award recognizes select law enforcement agencies or individuals throughout the country that have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to and focus on preventing domestic violence and raising awareness in their communities. The Waterloo Police Department was recommended for the award by Seeds of Hope.
In honor of the Waterloo Police Department, Seeds of Hope will receive a $10,000 HopeLine grant from Verizon that will be used to provide advanced domestic violence training to law enforcement officers, prosecutors, victim advocates, victim service providers and others involved in the criminal justice system.
