Patch

Tonight Waterloo Officers took thirty-year-old Deshaun Cortez Harmon into custody on arrest warrants stemming from an incident that occurred on October 24, 2011.  Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crimes Apprehension Team (VCAT) were conducting an investigation on that date when they came into contact with Harmon at a liquor store located at 919 W. 5th St.  Harmon observed Officers in the area and attempted to conceal a loaded .32 caliber revolver inside a beer cooler at the store when approached by Officers.  Officers discovered the firearm during the investigation and located Harmon in the area shortly after he left the store.  During the investigation Officers learned Harmon was carrying the gun in the area as he had made arrangements to sell it to another subject.  VCAT Officers later obtained warrants for Harmon for possession of a firearm as a felon and carrying weapons.  Harmon is currently being held at the Black Hawk County Jail.

Sgt. Matt McGeough
