On Monday December 5, 2011 Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crimes Apprehension Team served arrest warrants on four suspects for trafficking stolen weapons.  Officers made contact at 810 Riehl St. where twenty-one- year old Shawn Michael Franzen and twenty-three year old Kristen Michelle Johnson were taken into custody.  Twenty-four year old Franklin Martez Sawyers Bell was taken into custody at 832 Riehl St. and nineteen year old Matthew Michael Leedom was taken into custody at 1330 Scott Avenue in Waterloo.

The four suspects were arrested in connection to a gun investigation that occurred on October 20, 2011.  On that date, Officers stopped two vehicles, that were occupied by the suspects.  Officers recovered six stolen rifles in the vehicles.  During the investigation Officers learned all four suspects took part in the attempted sale of the stolen firearms.  All of the suspects were booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
