Waterloo Man Charged After Purported Robbery Investigation
On November 20, 2008 shortly after 6 pm Waterloo Police officers responded to the Hy-Vee Food Store at 306 Byron Avenue regarding a robbery that had just occurred. A female employee reported that a male suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and robbed her of money.
During the investigation Investigators determined that the female store employee, the male suspect and a 14-year-old juvenile conspired to stage a robbery with the intent of stealing money from the store.
On Thursday, July 16, 2009 Waterloo Police Investigators arrested the male suspect, 24-year-old J. C. Shonteze Cockhren of Waterloo, and charged him with theft in the second degree and using a juvenile to commit certain offenses. Cockhren is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on a one hundred and seventeen thousand dollar bond.
This is an ongoing investigation and no other information will be released at this time.
