Waterloo Police Help Promote Bicycle Helmet Safety Program

Waterloo Police Department officers will once again help promote the Iowa Health System's Think First Iowa "I Got Caught" safety program.  This program promotes good safety behavior for children ages 2 - 13, whom are wearing the proper headgear while bicycling, skateboarding and rollerblading.

The purpose of the "I Got Caught" program is to reward children for wearing helmets in and effort to prevent traumatic head injuries.  The "reward" portion of this program consists of an "I Got Caught" ticket, which includes a coupon for a free Frosty from Wendy's Hamburgers.  "Ticketed" children are also entered into a drawing for a free bicycle.

Instilling sound safety habits now, will help prevent serious injuries in the future.
