Waterloo Police Department Begins Process To Hire Police Officers
Waterloo Police Department Chief of Police Thomas J. Jennings announces that the department has begun the process to hire individuals whom are interested in an entry-level position as a police officer.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a United States citizen and willing to live within 10 miles of Waterloo City Hall.
Applicants must also be a high school graduate/GED and be able to speak, understand, read and write the English language. Other qualifications include, but are not limited to:
20/100 vision in both eyes, correctable to 20/20 in both eyes, normal color vision and normal hearing in each ear with or without hearing aids.
No drug or alcohol dependency.
Current valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.
No felony convictions and be able to legally posses firearms.
Not opposed to the use of force when necessary.
Candidates must meet all of the state's qualifications for police officers, including passing a physical fitness exam. All state standards can be found at http://www.state.ia.us/ilea.
