Police arrest student who stabbed a classmate

Waterloo Police have charged a 13 year old female with stabbing a fellow student with a small "X-acto" knife while they were in an Industrial Tech class at Hoover Middle School, 630 Hillcrest Road, Waterloo.

Taken into custody was Ashley Marie Carpenter, 3854 Memory Lane, Waterloo, IA. She has been charged with Willful Injury, a Class "D" felony. She has been released to the custody of her parents.

Carpenter allegedly stabbed the victim following a disagreement over personal property. The victim, a 13 year old male,  received injures to his abdomen and arm. He was treated at Covenant Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
