Bank Robber Arrested

On Monday, April 11, 2011, at approximately 9:53 AM, Waterloo Police were sent to US Bank, 425 Cedar Street, Waterloo, on report of a bank robbery. The suspect entered the bank and passed the teller a note. The note stated, "this is a robbery, I have a weapon and I need $80." The teller gave the suspect the money and he left.

The investigation revealed that the robbery suspect was in the Waterloo Public Library before the robbery and after he left the bank, went back to the Waterloo Public Library where he changed clothes. These activities were caught on the library surveillance video. A still image of the suspect was distributed through the local media and the robbery suspect was identified. The suspect was located in Cedar Rapids and taken into custody.

Arrested was Kurtis Michael Culbert, age 28, of Waterloo, IA. He is charged with Robbery in the 2nd Degree, a class C felony. He is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on $100,000.00 bond.
