On Thursday, October 26th, 2018 at approximately 12:36 PM Waterloo Police responded to a report of a robbery at Great Western Bank located at 2936 University Avenue in Waterloo. Through the investigation into this matter, they were able to develop a suspect vehicle description. On October 27th, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle. Investigative information led to the Waterloo Police and the FBI serving search warrants at residences in Waterloo.

Investigation into this incident, and the results of the search warrants led to the arrest of Lucas R. Thompson age 34 for 2nd Degree Robbery for the robbery of the Great Western Bank. Additional evidence recovered in this investigation resulted in Thompson being charged with 1st Degree Robbery for the Robbery that occurred on 10/20/18 at 9:41 PM at the Metro Mart. The Metro Mart is located at 2332 Falls Ave, Waterloo.

This is an ongoing investigation, so we ask that no suspect photos be released at this time. Further information will be available on Monday, October 29th, 2018.
