On Wednesday, November 18th at about 0957 hours Waterloo Police and Fire were called to 422 Dane #104 on a report of a shooting victim at this location. Officers and Paramedics arrived and found Zachary Brickman (19 year old) with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Brickman was transported to Allen Hospital and later flown to the University of Iowa Hospital. Brickman is listed in critical condition.
On Thursday, November 19th Waterloo Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the corner of Dawson and Broadway at 1841 hours. One of the passengers in this vehicle, Jumonie Dontez Wilson (20 year old), had an outstanding warrant and was wanted for questioning reference the shooting on Dane Street the previous day. Wilson fled on foot and after a short foot pursuit he was apprehended. During the chase Wilson threw a handgun.
Wilson was charged with multiple offenses stemming from both the shooting and the traffic stop/foot pursuit. He was charged with Possession of Weapon as a Felon and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon reference the Brickman shooting incident. He was also charged with Possession of a Weapon as a Felon, Carrying Weapons, Interference with official acts while being in possession with a firearm, and Possession of Marijuana.
This case is still under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
