On May 4, 2023, at approximately 7:22 AM consolidated dispatch received a report of an animal attack at 1280 Scott Avenue in Waterloo.  Waterloo Patrol Officers and Waterloo Fire Rescue arrived on scene and located two victims that had been bitten by a dog, inside the house.  The first victim was a 49-year-old female, who was taken to Allen Hospital and later flown to the University of Iowa Hospital, where her injuries are considered serious.  The second victim, a 9-month-old child, was declared deceased at the scene.  No names are being released pending notification of family members.  This is an ongoing investigation.
