On Thursday January 1st, 2009 at about 3:15PM Waterloo Police and Fire Department Paramedics were dispatched to the residence at 1109 Randolph St regarding a report of a one week old infant who had sustained a severe laceration.

 After arrival it was determined that the male child was the victim of an aggravated assault. He was transported to Covenant Medical Center for treatment and later transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident and no arrests have been made at this time. No names are being released at this time.
